The Proteas are eagerly preparing to embark on their T20 World Cup journey, marking their first appearance in the tournament since clinching the ICC World Test Championship title last year.
Departing for India on February 1st from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, the Proteas will kick off their T20 World Cup campaign against Canada on Monday, February 9th at 15:30 (SA time).
In a bid to strengthen their squad, rising stars Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs have been named in the 15-player team, replacing the injured Tony de Zorzi and Donovan Ferreira. Of particular interest is the form of Dewald Brevis, who is expected to shine following an exceptional SA20 campaign.
The Proteas have lined up fixtures in Group D, facing off against Canada, Afghanistan, New Zealand, and the United Arab Emirates in the initial stages of the tournament. Before the T20 World Cup commences, the Proteas will engage in a three-match warm-up series against the West Indies.
With a star-studded squad including Aiden Markram, Quinton de Kock, Kagiso Rabada, and other talented players, the Proteas are poised to showcase their skills and aim for glory in the T20 World Cup.
