The Proteas are gearing up for the Test series against Australia, with Kagiso Rabada's return in sight. Rabada, who has been recovering from a right hamstring injury, is on track to feature in the first Test scheduled at Kingsmead Durban from 9-13 October.
Having named a preliminary 18-player squad for the Test, coach Shukri Conrad highlighted the importance of having a versatile bowling group to adapt to different conditions. The squad sees the inclusion of uncapped Marques Ackerman, recognized for his impressive performances for South Africa A.
With preparations underway, the Proteas are optimistic about Rabada's readiness for the crucial Test match. The team's extended build-up includes training sessions, an intra-squad match, and scenario-based training to finalize the squad ahead of the series.
