The first-ever LIV Golf South Africa tournament is ready to tee off at Steyn City this week, with Stinger GC, the all-South African team including stars like Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel, expected to attract local support.
This season, LIV Golf has raised the total purse to million per event, offering substantial winnings for both individual and team performances. The newly added provision ensures all teams get a piece of the prize pool, creating more excitement and competitiveness.
The tournament's impact extends beyond the green, with thousands of tickets already sold, driving economic activity in Johannesburg. Minister Gayton McKenzie highlighted the event's potential to generate close to R1 billion, reflecting the broad reach and benefits of hosting such prestigious golf competitions.
Unique to LIV Golf's format is the dual-play system, where every shot counts towards individual and team leaderboards simultaneously. This innovative approach promises intense competition and a thrilling golfing experience for players and fans alike.
