Southern Guards GC, formerly known as Stinger GC, announced its rebranding in preparation for the upcoming LIV Golf event in South Africa. The team's new name reflects a strong emphasis on culture, unity, and resilience.
Inspired by the African philosophy of Ubuntu, meaning 'I am because we are,' Southern Guards GC embodies collective strength, shared purpose, and national pride. The team's visual identity now features the rhino, a symbol of strength and endurance deeply rooted in South African heritage.
The rebrand comes ahead of the highly anticipated LIV Golf South Africa event scheduled to take place in Johannesburg. With a record number of tickets already sold, there is a growing excitement for the league's African debut and the revamped Southern Guards GC's participation.
General Manager Richard Glover expressed that the decision to rebrand was a blend of emotional connection and strategic positioning. Despite the name change, the team's roster remains unchanged, featuring top South African golfers ready to compete under the new banner in the upcoming season.
