The George Golf Club, a renowned golf course in the Garden Route, suffered extensive damage as gale-force winds swept through the region earlier this week.
The storm uprooted 263 trees, some of which were over a century old, altering the landscape of the 120-year-old course, known for its magnificent tree-lined fairways.
Massive trees fell onto key areas of the course, including greens 1, 4, and 16, leaving visible scars on the picturesque setting.
Club officials have temporarily closed the course for cleanup efforts, while the clubhouse and restaurant remain open to members and the public.
Photos and videos from the aftermath show the massive root systems ripped from the ground, showcasing the extent of the damage caused by the unprecedented storm.
The destruction at the George Golf Club is part of the broader weather disaster that struck the Garden Route region, causing infrastructure damage, uprooting trees, power outages, and sadly, leading to fatalities in the area.
Local disaster management teams are actively involved in recovery operations, clearing roads, and restoring services as the community works to bounce back from the natural calamity.
