The legendary horse Winx's first surviving foal, a filly named Quinceanera, retired without ever competing in a race. Sold for a record R115 million, the decision to retire her was made on veterinary advice, leading her to become a broodmare instead of a racehorse.

Quinceanera, the foal of the renowned mare Winx, was retired without racing despite high expectations. She was sold for a record R115 million and was set to follow in her mother's footsteps in the racing world.

The decision to retire Quinceanera was made after consulting with trainer Chris Waller and receiving veterinary advice. Although disappointing, the move was deemed to be in the filly's best interest as she now begins her career as a broodmare.

Winx, a turf racing champion, had an illustrious career with 33 consecutive wins, including 25 Group 1 victories before retiring in 2019. Quinceanera's retirement marks the end of her racing aspirations, transitioning to a new role for breeding purposes.

Winx, who earned over R300 million in prize money during her career, had faced challenges with her foals. Quinceanera was her first surviving foal, as her previous foal from I Am Invincible did not survive birth. Another foal by Snitzel was withdrawn from auction due to a paddock accident.
