Legendary mare Winx's first surviving foal, Quinceanera, retires without ever racing after being sold for a record R115 million. The decision was made based on veterinary advice, paving the way for her future as a broodmare.

Quinceanera, the first surviving foal of the legendary Winx, has been retired without competing in a single race.

Sold for a record R115 million, the three-year-old filly, sired by Pierro, had high expectations but will now transition to a broodmare role.

Woppitt Bloodstock, the buyer of Quinceanera, announced the retirement decision was made following veterinary advice and consultation with trainer Chris Waller.

Winx, a former top-rated turf horse, achieved an incredible unbeaten streak of 33 victories, including 25 Group 1 wins, before retiring in 2019.

Quinceanera's retirement marks the continuation of Winx's legacy in the breeding world, following earlier setbacks with her offspring.

Despite never racing, Quinceanera's value remains significant, highlighting the enduring influence of the champion mare in the horse racing industry.
