In the eighth round of the Hilux NPC, standout performances were delivered by some of New Zealand's finest rugby talents. Wellington, with a rich history in rugby, showcased the skills of five notable New Zealand representatives in 1884: Henry Roberts, Edwin “Ned” Davy, John Dumbell, Peter Webb, and Hart Udy.
The exceptional talents of these players have not only left a mark on the history of Wellington rugby but have also contributed significantly to the legacy of New Zealand rugby as a whole. Their performances in round eight of the Hilux NPC highlighted the depth of talent and skill that has long been associated with the sport in this region.
