Initially brought in as a third-option goalkeeper, Sipho Chaine has rapidly ascended to stardom with Orlando Pirates since joining from Chippa United in 2022.
Despite facing competition from established goalkeepers, Chaine's persistence paid off, and he now stands as the team's primary choice. His efforts have brought the Pirates eight trophies under the leadership of two different coaches.
Chaine has etched his name in the club's history by achieving an impressive 26 clean sheets within a single season, surpassing the previous record set in 1999 by Williams Okpara.
This remarkable milestone was reached in a match against Milford FC during the Carling Knockout Cup, marking the first time a Pirates goalkeeper has achieved such a feat.
Throughout his career, Chaine has consistently surpassed expectations, breaking previous records held by club legends like Moeneeb Josephs and the late Senzo Meyiwa. His journey with the Pirates continues to inspire both fans and future goalkeepers alike.
